Directed by Antoine Fuqua, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Rachel McAdams, Forest Whitaker, 50 Cent, and Oona Laurence.
A fall from grace/redemption story that is captivating and immersive. Themes of loss, resilience, pain, and that will leave you emotionally spent. I am a Jake Gyllenhaal stan and adore the twisted roles he always seems to play with such raw intensity. One of the most authentic and gritty films I have watched (and my comfort movie, weirdly enough).
James Horner loved the idea of the film and ended up composing it for free, but he died in a plane crash just days before the film was ultimately released. At the end of the credits, you’ll see “In Memory of Our Friend James Horner.”
Oh, and Eminem was slated for the role of Billy. With all due respect, thank god we got Gyllenhaal in the end.
Find it on: Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Peacock, Disney+

you will never look at the Nike swoosh the same.
I listened to this book as an audiobook and finished it on a road trip i took to RI. it made me audibly gasp, cry out, laugh, roll my eyes, and so much more.
kara goucher has been through it, like so many other elite female athletes. from start to finish, she told her story eloquently and concisely. it was empowering and inspiring and highlighted the resilience that lays within athletes, yes, but more specifically humans as a whole.

they said it was “deeply necessary” and deeply necessary it was.
a story of grief and belonging and loss, michelle zauner recounts her mother’s battle with and subsequent death from cancer.
i didn’t cry, but that’s probably the antidepressants doing their job. however, it was gut-wrenching and unbearable at times.
while it shouldn’t take a story of loss to encourage us to think of all that we have, sometimes that is the case. it is so easy to take everything for granted. let this be your reminder to call your mom, hold your people close, and make memories while you can.
books

don’t wanna pay $38 for supergoop! sunscreen? understandable. a friend recently told me that e.l.f. suntouchable! whoa glow SPF 30 is the drugstore dupe. and it’s literally half the price.as far as I can tell, they’re pretty much the same, right down to the packaging. e.l.f. whoa glow is super lightweight and glowy, but glowscreen has just a touch more of that dewiness. but honestly, you’re getting the job done either way. if you need to save a few bucks on your face products, this is where you can do it.
